At home

Too tired to write a really good updateright now, but Pike is home safe and sound (and sleepy).

COMING HOME!

Uh, not that I'm excited or anything. Tomorrow night we'll be rooming in at the NICU, which means staying in a sort of hotel room they have set up there. That gives us a chance to take care of Pike ourselves for a night while still having the nurses close at hand just in case. Then, Thursday, we get to take him HOME! Like... home! Like he's all ours!

It's kind of like we just paid off our car and it finally really belongs to us. Except better. Have I mentioned I'm not terribly clever when I'm tired? Ah well - the point is that our baby's coming home, and I'm ridiculously excited :D

Possible ETA

We finally got an estimated home date! We've been told he'll probably be ready in seven to ten days, which means that this may well be my last week in the office for the next few months. We're super excited at the idea of finally having our little man home! The first night we'll "room in," staying there and taking care of him in a room at the NICU so that if we have questions we can still ask the nurses and whatnot, then we'll be bringing him home!

August 28 Update

Pike is three weeks old today. He is up to four bottles a day, which is awesome! No breastfeeding yet but we've done nuzzling a couple of times. I forgot to get his weight today but he was four pounds eleven ounces yesterday :)

August 25 Update

Yesterday our little man was active once again and super adorable. He is up to four pounds and eleven ounces, and they were intending to try him on a second full bottle of the day last night. Hopefully he took it well. The more he drinks from the bottle, the sooner he can be on ALL bottles, get rid of the feeding tube, then move on to breastfeeding... not to mention coming home.

August 24 Update

Pike was awake and wriggly today. He drank a full bottle at his noon feeding and is now for pounds and ten ounces. Whoo!
