Gender Guessing

Since it's fun and I can, I figured I'd try out some old wives' tales and whatnot to try and determine gender. We're supposed to find out at our April 21 sonogram, so now's the time! I've already had one friend weigh in and say she's sure I'm having a girl. The first quiz I found covered most of the stuff, which was kind of nice. heh

Childbirth.org quiz:
You have a 44% chance of having a boy. And you have a 55% chance of having a girl.
And Here's Why...
You are carrying the extra weight out front, so it's a boy.
The hair on your legs is not growing any faster during your preganacy, so it's a girl.
Boys are carried low. You are going to have a boy.
Sleeping in a bed with your pillow to the north indicates that you will be having a boy. (truthfully, I had no idea which way my pillow faces)
Your feet are not colder than they were before pregnancy. You are having a girl.
You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread. You are having a girl.
Dad-to-be hasn't been gaining weight along with Mom-to-be, so it will be a girl.
The maternal grandmother doesn't have gray hair (dyed or natural), so a girl will be born.
You didn't have morning sickness early in pregnancy, so it will be a boy.
You are looking particularly good during pregnancy. Therefore, it must be a boy, because girls steal their mother's looks.
Your chest development has been quite dramatic during pregnancy. You should expect a girl.
Since the sum of the mother's age at conception and the number of the month of conception is even, it will be a boy.
A needle on a thread held over your belly moves in circles, so you will have a boy.
Your urine is a dull yellow color, so you will have a girl.
You have a craving for salty or sour foods, which means that it is a boy. (actually, I crave salty and sweet - it just depends on the moment)
Your nose hasn't changed during pregnancy, which indicates a girl.
You have been craving fruits, so it is a girl.
Your baby's heart rate is 140 or more beats per minute, so it's a girl. (and, again, I didn't really remember and didn't have my pictures handy to remind me what it was at the last sonogram)

Chinese Birth Chart
This one says boy.

Zits Mean It's a Girl
And if that's true? Totally a girl.

It's not even morning

Nausea, originally uploaded by ember.
So I'm in week 14. I've survived the first trimester, and I should be in the clear for a few months, right? Right?!

Instead since I got a cold a few weeks back, I've started having bursts of "morning" sickness. Usually in the afternoon. I can keep breakfast down, but lunch? Not a chance. Dinner? Hit or miss. There's nothing quite like horribly vomiting while at work and then having to go back to your desk and attempt productivity. Seriously, business need to give pregnant chicks extra time off so we can just get the hell out of the office when this stuff hits.

Now, I WAS given some anti nausea meds by my ob when I went to see her. The genius thing on my part is that today, while my stomach rolls, I have not a one of those little magic pills with me. Naturally. I'm suddenly hoping the kid gets Wes' intellect instead of mine.

Sonogram #2

As cool as it was seeing  Nooblet for the first time, I have to say that our second sonogram this past Wednesday was far more exciting. We got to hear the heartbeat again, but this time instead of just being a shapeless little white spot, we could see a wriggling baby-shaped Nooblet!

Yep, Nooblet did some flailing and dancing for us this time around, which was pretty exciting. There was something so neat and so comforting just about seeing the movement. Next up? Our "pink or blue" sonogram at the end of April. I can't wait!

The Sleep Swing

sleeping_pregnant_woman, originally uploaded by Earth Babies.

I've been very, very lucky. I haven't really battled with morning sickness (some light nausea, but no crippling puking, knock on wood). I haven't felt all that bad, haven't had awful cramps... it's really been a pretty mild ride.

The only thing that does plague me is the tired. I'll be up and fine and working and then all of a sudden I'll be all but falling asleep in my chair. And given that I work a good half hour away from home and thus can't just pop home for a quick nap, that sort of means slapping myself out of it and trying to prop my eyelids open so I can do another four hours (or however long) of work before I get to go home and collapse.

Since I'm trying to be a good little pregnant lady and minimize my caffeine intake, my normal solution of just grabbing a Mountain Dew is sort of out of the question. Any suggestions on anything that's worked for any of you pregnant (or formerly pregnant) chicas out there that I might try?
